CELEBRATE RACHEL:
Rachel was Valedictorian of the Bishop John J. Snyder High School Class of 2009,
and she was a University of Notre Dame ACE Teacher at St Joseph’s Academy in Brownsville, TX.

She was a special light to these two Catholic school communities and many lives.

RAISE MONEY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS
In 2020, we celebrated the inaugural 5k event to celebrate Rachel and raise funds.
With the community’s help, the event was an overwhelming success.
We donated half our proceeds to the scholarship fund at Notre Dame
for a student at St Joseph’s Academy in Brownsville, TX.
The other half was used to provide assistance to three families at Snyder.

Rachel (pictured here) received her BA from The College of William and Mary in 2013
and her MA from Notre Dame in 2018.
Rachel began her five-year battle with cancer in 2013. Sadly, we lost our Starlight in July 2018.

we can only guarantee race t-shirt sizes for people who register
on or before January 6th.

5K Registration
$30.00 through December 31st; $35.00 up to and on race day
$10 for middle school and high school students - includes t-shirt, timing, and finisher medal
Start Time: 9:00 a.m.

Children’s Fun Run
(open to children 12 and under)
$10 through race day
*No entry fee for children if a parent is running the 5K race.*
Each participant receives a t-shirt and finisher medal
Start time is 10:00 a.m.

Virtual 5K
$35.00 through December 31st;
$40.00 up to and on race day
$15 for high school students
Includes t-shirt and finisher medal sent after the race.

CATHOLIC MASS, PACKET PICK-UP AND SPAGHETTI DINNER
Friday, February 5th
4:30 p.m.
Mass in the Cascone Chapel
Space is limited; RSVP including a number in your party to joygallagher@bishopsnyder.org.
If we have more than 50 people interested, we will consider moving the Mass to a larger location.

5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Spaghetti Dinner and Packet Pick-up in Bishop Snyder High School Cafeteria
The celebration starts the night before the race with a spaghetti dinner
for all registered runners, walkers and supporters.

Packets will be available for pick up from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. on February 5th

The fun starts at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 6th!

We will have a 50/50 raffle and unique items to purchase.
Coffee and breakfast items will be sold.
We will have activities for children, and we are dog-friendly!

RACHEL 5K HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOL
The Rachel Quiñones Memorial 5K and Fun Run will be using the following Social Distancing Guidelines.

1. No day of race registration.
2. Day of race packet pick up will be limited. Please adhere to the 6 -foot spacing guideline and wear a mask when picking up your packet at Bishop John J. Snyder High School prior to race day or on race day. Packet pick-up prior to race day is encouraged.
3. Please wear a mask when you can not adhere to the 6 foot spacing guideline. We encourage everyone to wear a mask until you have started the run/walk.
4. Race will be started in waves of people from 2 separate (sidebyside) starting lines. There will be waves of people starting every 20 seconds beginning at 9:00 a.m. (10:00 a.m. for the Children’s Fun Run).
5. Once you have finished walking or running the 5K, please respect the 6-foot social distancing spacing and wear a face covering.
6. As of November 3, 2020, the race will not have an awards ceremony or post-race celebration. Awards will be mailed to runners following the race. Please check back for updates.
7. Bring your own water if you want to be extra safe. We will have water in bottles at the start, halfway point, and finish. If you take a water bottle, be sure to hold on to it until you finish the race or drop off in trash cans at designated drop location.
8. Hand sanitizers and masks will be available at the Medical / Sanitation Tent near the start/finish.
9. If you feel ill or have a fever, do not come to packet pickup or to the race.
10. To maximize social distance we recommend that you not arrive at the race more than 30 minutes prior to your start time.
